How the Broncos together with the 'play-dough' QB could end that Chiefs' dominance.

NFL 2025 season: Week six
Real-time updates includes text commentary of the weekend matchups on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard on designated networks for another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).
It's week six in the NFL season , following last week's talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their unbeaten records.
Striking in those games were the number of infractions both conceded. Philadelphia did so in key moments so they essentially beat themselves having led 17-3 going into the fourth period versus Denver, set to play in London this weekend.
However it was good to observe that Denver's QB the rookie managed to overcome the shortfall before lead three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, securing the victory by four points.
Denver have the top defender in CB their star corner. They are first in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia are number one in red zone offence, and the Broncos won that contest.
They had the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't always rushing extra pass rushers instead they could plug two LBs in the 'A' gap then drop them out and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.
Early on of the season, we said during a show that Denver might emerge as this season's dark horses. They finished last season strongly then excelled in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this year's dark horses?
Recently acquired tight end their tight end has stepped up significantly and new RB JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks 5th league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).
It's impressive that the coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates how the Broncos are a squad that wants to run first, since you can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush and maintains in positive situations.
It's also benefited QB Bo Nix, who entered the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to throw anywhere, but they lack the mobility as Nix. He has incredible passing ability, a unique trait, and he's so athletic.
His assets include his movement, being able to throw on the run, as well as using different arm angles to make throws as he moves outside protection, the bootlegs. He can deliver precision throws over the middle or past defenders.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got great composure under pressure and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to evade being tackled as much as possible and is able pass in tight spots. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.
When you constantly rush it consumes time and makes the opponent to stay on the field extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defence has to defend the area vertically side to side. It can be exhausting.
Nix has pushed back at Payton during games at times and I think Payton likes that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for him to have a rookie QB who's similar to play-dough. He can really build something up how he wants to shape him. I believe it's a unique opportunity for him.
The head coach has won a championship and now passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. I think the achievements Denver are having offensively is mostly down to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB helps shape him what he is.
You wouldn't want a more qualified person in your ear, to help you through some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they strong enough to go against an elite team at its best? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.
Right now, I don't think the Broncos are incredible. They're performing above average, that's a good place to hold their division. The key to do is maintain this path.
They excel at embracing their forte, which is running the ball, and this is exactly what they should do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.
The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (10th worst), and they are the only team yet to win any game.
Since the NFL started recording turnovers in 1933, this team are also the first team to be without any turnovers through five games, which is surprising considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.
Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
After the upcoming matchup, Denver have a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
In their division, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the West.
It depends upon what version of the Chiefs they face since Denver {beat|def
