President Trump Welcomes Families of Shot National Guard Personnel to White House
Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the executive mansion.
He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Incident
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.
White House Call
The president explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president informed the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Community Support
Mourners assembled over the past few days at a local school in the state to remember Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to support law enforcement in Washington DC.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that educators hoped for. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the head of her former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always ready to support those in need.”
Funeral details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Steps and Policy Changes
Authorities have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The event caused the administration to pause asylum applications and cease providing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
The airman, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey said on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with the family.
Impact of Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, per the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had courage,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
